Recommendation

Staff recommends Board adoption of the Annual Assessment Resolution for the Street Lighting Special Assessment Districts.

Background

St. Lucie County has 19 Street Lighting districts which are funded by non-ad valorem special assessments. The amount of each special assessment is determined by dividing the estimated cost of providing the service for the following year by the number of parcels which derive a direct benefit from the improvements.

Pursuant to Article V Section 40 of the County Code of Ordinances, the Board of County Commissioners is required to adopt an Annual Assessment Resolution approving the non-ad valorem assessment roll for each fiscal year for each of the respective districts and to direct certification of the same to the Tax Collector for collection of the assessments. The attached resolution satisfies this requirement for the 19 Street Lighting Districts.
